HAVE COLDPLAY ROBBED THIS SONG??

Coldplay have been accused of plagiarism by a little-known US indie band. Creaky Boards claim the group stole the title track for new release 'Viva La Vida' from them. Coldplay today said the accusations were "completely untrue" and until this week they had never heard of Creaky Boards. Coldplay's new album, the group's fourth, has already become one of the fastest-selling records in history. It shot straight to the top of the albums chart on Monday - despite their album having been on sale for just three days. Creaky Boards, an unsigned band from Brooklyn in the US, has posted a clip on YouTube splicing together segments of their track The Songs I Didn't Write, and Coldplay's song. In the clip, Andrew Hoepfner, the band's songwriter, alleges that Chris Martin may have stolen their melody after watching them at a New York festival last October. A caption in the YouTube clip says: "We were flattered when we thought we saw Chris Martin in the crowd that night. He seemed pretty into it. Maybe too into it. "Anyway, I wish Coldplay the best of luck. If they ever want to collaborate, I've got some microphones we could use in my bedroom. I'm gonna get ready to play a show now. I hope the sound guy remembers to pass the tip jar... " YouTube users have been divided on their opinion about Creaky Boards' claims. One user, WiiVaio, said: "Martin should at least throw a little cash their way, lord knows he has enough. But another user, Peebob, wrote: "The first 2 lines are similar thats it! There has been bigger "plagerisms" done before...This is such a desperate attempt to get ur band bigger.pretty pathetic!" Coldplay's spokesman Murray Chalmers said: "These accusations are completely untrue. "Until this week the Coldplay camp had never heard of Creaky Boards. At the time when the lead singer says Chris Martin was watching the band he was actually on a different continent. "Chris was actually in Abbey Road studios doing some recording."
